Thanks ProudHindu I was hoping that Muslim bloggers will speak out and share their experiences and thoughts from the Muslim perspective. I'll speak on behalf of them from whatever little I know. In one of my organizations, some of my muslim friends argued about with their pro-pak counterparts on the greatness and future of India. Many educated muslim women around me marry hindus to avoid getting orthodox muslim husbands. One Hindu manager was fired because he used to call a muslim woman with headscarf Taliban and humiliate her in meetings calling her good for nothing etc., These are experiences that Muslims should share to make us know more about them and build an environment of trust and understanding. Blogging provides the anonymity and protection to allow open sharing of such communication. Most educated do not want to call attention to their religious identity and the uneducated lot think everything a hindu does is a lie. Only explicit appeasement seems to convince him. Hindus on the other hand do not understand and feel the insecurity of muslims.
Dear purefriendship, Thanks for the nice words and your wholehearted support. History is full of mistakes that people all over the world did - starting 100s of years ago - by giving more importance to emotion than intelligence and the current countries are still suffering because of it. People should work towards your suggestions, I have the following to add to your suggestions: We should add positive images to balance the negative images planted by fanatics. These days there are so many days - father's day, V day, friendship day...why not have a hindu-muslim unity day? Taking advantage of the competetive spirit among the 2 communities, why not create opportunities to show the charitable side of a community towards another. My guess is that both will be anxious to prove themselves more generous than the other. Also provides a platform for the community leaders to highlight the good deeds they have done. In any case, it will be a win-win situation for all.
Thanks ll0OoO0ll! The more people express their agreement, the more likely for the blog to be effective in contributing to the change. BTW unique and mysterious handle ID, artfully cryptic.
Interesting article! I think it is a good idea; in kerala too, there is a particular tribe that eats a particular species of rats. Often these tribes are called for catching rats that destroy topioca crops and they charge no fees as they get to keep the rats. Moreover, rat-meat is supposed to be the tastiest of all meats! and no wonder considering the diet rats have. It may sound repulsive to us because we are not habituated to it, but we should encourage such thinking for the benefit of the poor and hungry.
Well at least you accept that a hospital for only Muslim doctors is ugly. I believe bharatborn because I've seen such ads myself, even christian institutes do this. It is this kind of persecution that tests the tolerance of Hindus. When it goes out of limit, Gujarat riots happen, Modi happen. This can only be controlled if the minorities change their behavior towards Hindus. Muslim terrorism is only going to make many more Modi's. Terrorists have never succeeded in India because people here value pride and honour more than lives taken by terrorists. In a population of 100 crores if even 100 get killed in a blast, it is one-in-a-crore happening. Only media people make noise over it, nobody else gets affected by it. Everybody feels outraged for a time and then forgets. Muslims are self-destructing themselves by turning into terrorists.
Right bharatborn, there are naxalites, IRA, Tamil tigers, whatever... but the muslim terrorist is the most talked about/hated because the behaviour of his community supports the negative image the world has of Muslims. Thanks, WS
I guess the mantra doing the rounds is: Love India or Leave India! Fair enough; to show that you love, do something positive for the country, and some muslims do, you have to agree. For the handful of them, I believe in secularism.
BTW, you seem to be a big follower of mine, I have blocked you twice and you haven't still taken the hint.
Kudos to the residents of Meera Road, Mumbai
Great postive development! Thanks for highlighting and encouraging such news.
